2022 Audi RS3: Pros and Cons

2022 audi rs3

For the past week, I had my hands on one of the best Audi’s you can buy – the 2022 Audi RS3. After driving around in Audi’s 5-cylinder monster for that week I got to know just what of the many shining features actually woo you from the driver’s seat and what needs some work. Here are the Pros and Cons of the 2022 Audi RS3.

PRO: Big Power 5 Cylinder

The 2022 Audi RS3 comes powered by a heavenly 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-5 engine. Likely the last inline-5 in any production vehicle, this inline-5 puts out 401 hp=orsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

PRO: RS Modes

All Audi models come with Audi’s Drive Select modes allowing you to switch between modes like Allroad, Offroad, Sport, and the like. While the 2022 Audi RS3 also has some Drive Select modes, it comes with fully customizable RS Modes and a fancy RS button on the steering wheel for enabling them on the fly.

PRO: Interior Quality

With Audi the quality is there no matter if you get an A-model through the S-models and all the way to the RS-model lineup.

The quality is top-notch on the interior of the 2022 Audi RS3. The particular model tested featured the RS technology package which added Audi connect PLUS, Audi MMI, heads up display, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.

PRO: Handling

With the Audi RS3, there is some RS wizardry going on around the corners of the vehicle.

The RS3 features an RS Sport suspension kit providing dynamic chassis control, an RS torque splitter, and some 6-piston front brakes to make sure you can reel it in. All that comes together to form a very efficient handling package.

PRO: Audi Virtual Cockpit

If it has it, I simply cannot not mention the Audi Virtual Cockpit. It is one of the best gauge clusters in the industry and in the RS3 you get a unique RS-Runway screen not found in any of the lower trim levels.

CON: Needs More Theater for an RS-model

The interior is amazing, the RS bits are there, but take out the RS button and the RS branded seats, you just see an S-line Audi model. Now, don’t get me wrong S is great on its own, but this is RS. I want more and more theater when I get behind the wheel.

CON: Costly, Starts at $60k Can End Up in the $70k Range

The 2022 Audi RS3 starts at $60k, but if you check a few too many boxes, you can end up in the $70k range pushing close to the RS5.
