For the last week, I was fortunate to get a ride to the future by way of the driver seat of the 2022 Audi e-tron. I spent some time getting to know Audi’s full electric SUV and I wanted to tell you its shining features and something that can be worked on. Here are the Pros and Cons of the 2022 Audi e-tron.
PRO: Electric Power Means Electric Performance
The 2022 Audi e-tron is powered by a 95 kWh battery, which gives you some noteworthy performance by ditching internal combustion. The battery power gives the e-tron 355 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque in its more tame drive modes while dynamic (basically sport mode) will give you the full 402 horsepower and 490 lb-feet of torque at your disposal.
PRO: Electric Features and Screens
Under the hood, you will obviously see some orange cables and basically a secondary front trunk (frunk), but there are other unique screens and features which let you know you are inside of an electric vehicle which adds to the theater of owning an electric vehicle.
PRO: Regenerative Braking
Audi isn’t the first to have a regenerative braking system with the Audi e-tron, but it certainly is a welcome electric feature with so much performance being pulled from the e-motor.
PRO: Audi Interior
Being an electric vehicle is certainly the talk of the town on the 2022 Audi e-tron, but let’s not forget it is a top trim Audi, so the interior has pretty much everything going for it.
PRO: Audi Virtual Cockpit
Speaking of something going for it, if I have an Audi and it has Virtual Cockpit I just have to mention it. One of the best if not the best digital gauge clusters in the industry. It gets a unique e-tron display theme as well.
CON: Range Could Be Better
The EPA estimates that the 2022 Audi e-tron gets 78 city and 77 highway for a combined 78 combined miles per gallon. They also estimate that a full charge should net you 222 miles. My e-trons charging target was set to 80%, it can apparently be set to 100% for potential long-term lower battery life. Many rivals are beating that 222 mile number, and if your the big T near doubling it.
