Volkswagen recently handed me the keys to their biggest SUV in its model line up – the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas in the SE trim. After spending a week cruising around town with it I want to tell you all the features that caught my eye and a few that wanted me to close my eyes. Here are the PROs and CONs of the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas SE.
PRO: Quick from a Stop
The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas SE “only” has a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine which provides 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, but that torque figure feels much bigger than it is. From a stop the Atlas moves.
PRO: So Much Space/Three Rows
Being the biggest Volkswagen you can buy the Atlas uses all that space for your benefit. Plenty of spaced in all the rows and you get a nice useable third row as well!
PRO: Drive Modes
I love drive modes and the Atlas comes with Eco, Comfort, and Sport drive modes and if that isn’t enough you get a Custom mode which you can adjust to your liking to get the best of all three modes.
CON: Too Much Touch
Touch and secondary touch menus have taken over the interior of the Atlas. All the climate controls, drive mode buttons, assist buttons, and more are all touch and it is a bit much.
CON: Feels Big
It is nice to be the biggest Volkswagen and the Atlas certainly does use it on the interior, but it feels really big on the road. I felt like I was going to clip some mailboxes on some local roads.
