Ike chats with “professional adventurer” Jessi Combs. Jessi is a land speed record holder, professional driver, metal fabricator, TV personality (best known for replacing Kari Byron for a season on Mythbusters), author, and much more. They talk about how gasoline runs in Jessi’s family’s veins all the way back to her great grandmother, how Jessi learned welding and fabrication, her time at WyoTech, and her car history, from its inauspicious beginnings to her current Toyota Tundra pre-runner and, of course, The Shitty Van. They also discuss how she got involved with Mythbusters, her off-road racing career, the challenges of being “a woman in a man’s world,” and whether we’re seeing a paradigm shift with more and more women becoming car enthusiasts. Finally, they discuss terrible rental cars, interesting accidents, and, as usual, adventures in eating food in cars.
Check out Jessi’s web site, and follow her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
