Visiting Pagani Automobili S.p.A

The ongoing saga of RFD traipsing across Europe continues today in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy.  We took you behind the scenes at the Ferrari factory and track tour and then it was on to Ferrari’s museum.  Now it’s time to make a pit stop visiting Pagani Automobili S.p.A., which is about a half hour from Maranello.  But first, a word of advice, heed their website’s warning and book a damn tour.  I did not, and just stopped along the drive to the Lamborghini museum (keep an eye on RFD, coverage coming soon).  It was a bit confusing.  See, like a lot of Italian automakers, Pagani are nestled amongst an industrial park.

Driving down Via dell’Artigianato, you won’t necessarily even notice the Pagani building behind the large fencing.  I did notice this…

Apologies for the dead Italian bugs and gook on the windshield.  You get the idea though, it’s a God damn Zonda.  Anyway, he was turning left into the fenced in facility, so at this point I at least knew where I was headed.  I parked the diesel Toyota and sauntered up, sans appointment to the front gate.  There was no one working there, just a call button.  Just before I pushed the button, the gate buzzed to life and opened.  Oh, well they’ve heard of Right Foot Down obviously, my reputation precedes me.  Not really, no, there was just someone leaving.  Oh hi.  I mean buongiorno!  The nice gentleman leaving, either not interested in dealing with me, or not understanding my broken Italian, sent me to talk to the nice lady inside.

Which is where I saw all of this…

Which is about the extent of the showroom.  There was a TV in the background with Chris Harris doing sideways things in cars.  I was too excited to notice if it was a Pagani, probably was.  The nice lady reiterated that a reservation is necessary for the tour, as there is like a guy who can conduct it.  And he wasn’t there.  Understood, I appreciated the time being able to drool all over a couple of Zondas.

Up next, it was a short 20 minute drive to Sant’Agata Bolognese to visit Lamborghini.   Then off to Germany!  Stay tuned to RFD for more.
