After spending a week with a 2022 Toyota Corolla XSE I wanted to get straight to business on what would woo you about this little sedan and what would potentially keep you away from it. Here are the best and worst features of the 2022 Toyota Corolla XSE…
Best: The 2022 Toyota Corolla XSE Has Great Fuel Economy

The 2022 Toyota Corolla XSE features a pretty great fuel economy statistic. Getting straight to the point, the vehicle features 31 miles per gallon city, 38 miles per gallon highway for a combined 34 miles per gallon.
Best: Faster Than It Leads On

I read into some of my competitors talking about the engine, but I found that when clicking that Sport mode button the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine in the Corolla XSE which kicks out 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque feels more fun than those power figures lead on.
Best: Handling

When you are seated in the 2022 Corolla XSE you almost feel like your butt is on the road. What that does for you is the low center of gravity and for a car that isn’t aiming for performance car handling it ends up hitting some serious positives in the handling department anyway.
Best: 2022 Toyota Corolla XSE Sedan Might Be Better Than the Hatch

This one is very subjective. Some want the sedan, others will want the hatch. For me, the sedan does it for me. I happen to watch a Formula Drift team run a Corolla hatch doing things you could not believe with them, but still, the Sedan version gets my vote.
Best: Interior Quality
Look, I am not blowing smoke to compare to any sort of Lexus level quality in this thing, but behind the wheel of the 2022 Corolla XSE you aren’t going to get the feeling you have plastic junk surrounding you. Everything is quality on the interior and welcome to the touch.
Worst: Carries No Weight of It’s Name

Historically, the Corolla has been a car enthusiast car, particularly in the world of drifting, but this current generation carries no weight of its historic name and no direction of performance.
