Toyota recently handed me the keys to the 2025 Toyota Crown Nightshade Edition, a sleek and sophisticated sedan that combines bold design with hybrid efficiency. The Crown Nightshade Edition stands out with its unique blacked-out accents, delivering a sportier and more aggressive appearance, while still offering a refined driving experience. With its premium features, smooth ride, and eco-conscious hybrid powertrain, the Crown Nightshade is an intriguing option for those seeking a distinctive, high-tech sedan.
In this review, I’ll dive into the PROs and CONs of the 2025 Toyota Crown Nightshade Edition to help you decide if this stylish, performance-oriented hybrid sedan is the right choice for your next vehicle purchase.
PRO: Nightshade is the best looking Crown trim
The Nightshade comes in a bunch of trim levels like XLE, Limited, Platinum, but in my opinion, the best looking is the Nightshade Edition. The Nightshade is basically a black out trim. 21 inch matte-black wheels, black mirror caps, and darker badging sprinkled about.
PRO: Lexus Inspired Interior
The Crown comes off as the Land Cruiser of Sedans. Much like the Land Cruiser pulls across the feel of a Lexus with Toyota badging the Crown certainly takes much of its interior queues from Lexus cars and SUVs.
PRO: Hybrid Powerplant
The 2025 Toyota Crown comes available multiple hybrid options including a 2.5L Inline 4-Cylinder Hybrid or a Hybrid MAX 2.4L Inline 4-Cylinder Turbocharged Hybrid.
PRO: Large Trunk Space
There will certainly be larger trunk space on the market, but for its size the Crown features a quite large trunk.
CON: Pricey Toyota Sedan
The Nightshade Edition isn’t even the most costly Crown trim, that honor goes to the Platinum which runs starting for $54,990. The Nightshade Edition isn’t far behind starting at $48,765.
CON: Premium Doesn’t Equal Performance
The Crown features a premium driving experience, but no performance is increased with it. If you want performance options you will still need to purchase from the Crowns GR brothers Corolla, GT86, and Supra.
