2023 Genesis GV60 Performance: Pros and Cons

For over a week I have been testing out just what Genesis can bring to the luxury crossover electric vehicle market and I did so behind the wheel of the 2023 Genesis GV60 Performance.

PRO: Has the Performance to Back Up Its Name

When you add “Performance” to your model lineup as a trim level you really need to back it up with just that, some performance. Luckily, Genesis has you covered with the GV60 Performance.

The 2023 Genesis GV60 Performance provides you 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque to play with from its 77.4-kWh battery pack which will propel you around town from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.

PRO: Addictive Boost Button

You know the max power of the vehicle, but the best thing is there is a fancy button on the steering wheel that will provide you with all the NOS-Fast and Furious dreams.

Located bottom right is a yellow button that says “BOOST”. What that button will do is either you are a Star Wars fan or a Trekkie will unlock your Warp Speed or Lightspeed dreams. It gives you an over 50 horsepower power increase to 483 horsepower for 10 seconds.

PRO: Regenerative Braking

Located on the back of the GV60 Performance’s steering wheel are two paddles. Quick glance and you might think they are gears for the transmission, but they are to increase and decrease the level of the regenerative braking system.

Putting it in some of the higher regenerative braking modes can likely save your need to press the brake pedal while the highest unlocked the I-Pedal mode which basically made it like driving a golf cart with one pedal driving.

PRO: Interior Styling

Everything going on in the interior just looks visually appealing. Literally front and center is the gear shifter which creates a theater experience as when the vehicle is off it disappears to reveal a glowing orb.

PRO: Beautiful Crisp Digital Displays

Along with that interior styling are some crisp clear digital displays. Made to look like a long singular display both the driver gauge cluster and information clusters are beautiful 12.3-inch combined next to each other.

CON: Sub-300 Mile Range

The GV60 Performance definitely packs some fun, but I would have liked it to at minimum peak over a 300-mile range. It only gets a 235-mile range on a full charge.
