How many MDX’ has Acura sold in North America over the last three years? 150 000.
You didn’t know that, did you? That’s because Acura hasn’t been bragging about it. Believe it or not, The MDX happens to be the most sold 7-passenger luxury SUV of all time. Imagine the kind of pressure Acura engineers had when came time to update America’s favorite luxed up family hauler.
Luckily, Acura knows its buyers, and understands that if it is to give its big guy a facelift, it’s best to stick to a winning formula. That’s why mechanically, not much has changed for the 2017 MDX. It is, however, very different than the outgoing model. There’s an all new front-grille, which is apparently “the new face of Acura”. What better vehicle to announce this drastic change of brand image than on your best-selling SUV?
Acura has also loaded the MDX with technology and standard features. Because free stuff always wins. I must say, after spending the week with this uni-body, VTEC-powered, pretty-eyed SUV, I now understand why so many families have defaulted back to this instead of a BMW X5. Because the MDX is brilliant!

So Acura gets a new, better looking grille, and Honda inherits the old over-chromed duck beak grille? Because that’s what the new Civic has.
