Oh, great. Another tuner GT86. Now wait a minute. Don’t click to the next article just yet. That yellow GT86 right there is the JUN Auto Subaru BRZ and there’s something very special about this one. Unlike all of the other turbo, supercharged, or naturally aspirated FA20 builds out there, JUN opted to install a motorcycle engine.
Well, kind of. Under the hood is a 2.4 liter Synergy V8. What the hell is that, you ask? Essentially it’s two 1,200cc Kawasaki Ninja engines tacked together by some crazy guys in New Zealand. The result is an impressive 356 horsepower at 10,300 RPM. Torque, not so much. It’ll make 200 lb-ft of torque at 8,000 RPM. Redline? 11,600 RPM.
Just listen to that engine scream! Seriously, is there any better chassis for an engine like this than the GT86?
Be sure to save up all your pennies because an engine swap such at this could easily run $70,000. If that’s a bit too deep for your wallet then you could always opt for the Hartley V8 based off of the Suzuki Hayabusa engine for roughly a third of the price. I hear that makes a little more horsepower and a bit more torque than the Synergy power plant.
You can see much more of JUN’s Subaru BRZ over at Speedhunters.
