Is this the 2014 Porsche LMP1 Le Mans Racer

It’s been 15 years since Porsche last won at Le Mans in 1998 with the GT1 and 4 years since the last attempt in 2009. With 50 years of racing history in the books I’d say that 4 years is quite the hiatus for Porsche. Nonetheless, Porsche is back.

The German sports car manufacturer announced in December 2012 that it will be returning to the prototype class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 and has been teasing its reintroduction to Le Mans on its YouTube and Facebook pages ever since.

We know that the 2014 Porsche entry will use a hybrid powertrain conforming to LMP1 rules however not much else is known about the car. I can’t wait to see the official livery on this car. At the moment there are no known sponsors. One thing that’s for certain is that Porsche had quite a battle ahead facing off against the experienced crew in Audi’s corner.
