In his first solo podcast, the Roman, the other half of Regular Car Reviews, sits down with Ike to discuss his end of the operation and how he and Mr. Regular collaborate on each episode. They talk about how the Roman and Mr. Regular met at Kutztown University, their college radio show which led to the genesis of RCR, how they work together and come up with all the wacky lines they use, why they remained anonymous for so long, and where the poop lines come from. They also discuss how the Roman started writing songs for RCR, how he comes up with song ideas, his favorite song from RCR, an upcoming RCR album, and the Roman’s recent Tale of the Dale project. We learn about the Roman’s car history, his favorite RCR episodes, his favorite car he’s ridden in (he doesn’t drive them for the reviews), some shoutouts to people who have helped RCR out along the way to where they are today, and how he handles the inevitable criticism of the internet. They exchange notes on how the world of automotive journalism is more friendly among “competitors” than other forms of journalism, and debate whether Regular Car Reviews actually qualifies as journalism or not. Finally, the Roman talks about interviewing Lucy Lawless and Bruce Campbell at New York Comic Con, chasing Taylor Swift off stage, and misadventures involving McDonald’s hot cakes and sausage.
