Heywood Wagner of SCCA

Track Night In America

Ike is joined by Heywood Wagner, Director of Experiential Programs for the Sports Car Club of America. His jurisdiction encompasses the popular Track Night In America program (which I’m a huge fan of), as well as the Starting Line school and the new Targa events. They discuss Heywood’s background in the SCCA, his 9.5 Honda Civics, and his efforts to bring the recreational non-competitive side of motorsports back to the SCCA. They also talk about how Track Night In America is like summer camp, how beer is responsible for autocross as we know it today, how the future of motorsports is similar to bicycles, horses, and guns, and the potential of SCCA sanctioned car soccer.
