For 2025, Toyota has further expanded the Grand Highlander lineup thanks to a new entry level LE trim level and a sporty Nightshade Edition. With three available powertrains, Toyota is well on their way to building the ultimate family SUV.
First introduced in 2023 for the 2024 model year, the Grand Highlander filled the gap between the regular Highlander and the much larger Sequoia. Although it shares Toyota’s GA-K platform, the Grand Highlander measures longer, wider, and taller than a regular Highlander, with a significant focus on increasing space in the third row and cargo area. Unique exterior styling, a more premium, technology focused interior, and available Hybrid MAX powertrain help this midsize SUV stand out on the showroom floor.
New for 2025 is the entry level LE trim. With a starting MSRP of $40,860 (before destination fees), the LE trim actually comes in $2,460 cheaper than a 2024 XLE Grand Highlander. Although the new value leader, buyers still get to enjoy a slew of comforts, including:
- Standard 265 HP 2.4L Turbocharged 4-cyl engine w/ front or all wheel drive
- Optional 245 HP hybrid 2.5L 4-cyl engine w/ standard electronic on demand all wheel drive
- Seating for eight passengers w/ 60/40 split second and third row
- 12.3″ touchscreen w/ Toyota Audio Multimedia System and six-speaker audio system
- Standard power rear liftgate
- Heated power outside mirrors w/ integrated blind spot monitoring
- Toyota Safety Sense 3.0
Also new for 2025 is the sporty Nightshade Edition. Based on the Hybrid Limited trim, the Nightshade envelops the Grand Highlander in sleek blacked out accents. Starting MSRP is $52,610 (before destination fees) and includes the following:
- Standard 245 HP hybrid 2.5L 4-cyl engine w/ electronic on demand all wheel drive
- 20″ black alloy wheels
- Black exterior trim including: door handles, badges, mirror caps, window surrounds, and spoiler
- Leather trimmed seating w/ heated and ventilated front seats
- Heated outboard second row seats
- 12.3″ touchscreen w/ Toyota Audio Multimedia System
- Standard 11-speaker premium JBL audio system
- 12.3″ digital gauge cluster
- Ambient lighting
Across the rest of the Grand Highlander lineup, Toyota has introduced a couple new paint colors – Cement Gray and Heavy Metal. XLE, Limited, and Platinum trim models with second row captain chairs now include a removable second row center console. There are also a few hundred dollar price increases across the board.
The 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander will be arriving at your local Toyota dealership in December of 2024. If you’re interested in the new LE trim though, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Toyota expects it to be available by the first half of 2025.
