2024 Acura TLX Type S: Pros and Cons

2024 Acura TLX Type S hero

It has been quite a while since I have been behind the wheel of an Acura, but I was happy when Acura tossed me the keys to the 2024 Acura TLX Type S. After spending a week with Acura’s newest performance machine I wanted to highlight the features which could influence your buying decision the most. Enjoy the PROs and CONs of the 2024 Acura TLX Type S.

PRO: Performance

The 2024 TLX Type S comes powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine providing 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque on tap.

PRO: Interior Styling

The interior features a lot of the NSX-y performance styling which provides a very sporty and driver centric driving experience.

PRO: Dynamic Modes

Acura’s Dynamic Modes are the drive modes of Acura’s product line. A lot of vehicles have drive modes where you can barely tell they change anything. In the TLX Type S, turning the Dynamic Mode dial from Comfort, Normal, Sport and Sport+ will provide a noticeable change in your driving experience.

PRO: Looks as Fast as It Is

I just raved about the performance capabilities of the TLX Type S and while being a sleeper vehicle is fun, the TLX Type S looks pretty darn good from the exterior and looks like a performance machine.

PRO: All Wheel Drive

The all wheel drive system in the Acura TLX Type S isn’t going to win any awards for the best, but it definitely adds to the driving experience and helps with the driver confidence of reeling in the performance.

CON: Touch Pad

The controller for the TLX Type S’s infotainment is a touch pad and touch pads are, in my opinion, the worst things in the automotive industry. I say either dials or touch screen, but ditch the touch pads.

CON: Competition

The competition the TLX Type S has to deal with is definitely a problem. The German luxury performance vehicle makers have a lot of proven history and it will be hard for customers to pull away from them even if they have the looks and performance to back it up.
