The 2026 Hyundai Palisade XRT PRO sits in an interesting spot in the three-row SUV market and pitched at families who want one vehicle that can handle a snowy school run, a muddy campsite, and a 500-mile road trip without breaking a sweat.

PRO: Off-Road Bits

The XRT PRO comes loaded with genuine off-road hardware including 8.4 inches of ground clearance, Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires on 18-inch wheels, an electronic rear limited-slip differential, dedicated Mud, Sand, and Snow terrain modes that actually reconfigure the AWD system, red recovery hooks front and rear, and hill descent control, giving it a full inch of extra ground clearance over every other Palisade trim and the capability to back up its looks with something more than a rainy commute.

PRO: Interior Quality

The XRT PRO’s cabin feels more expensive than the price tag suggests, with individual captain’s chairs in the second row instead of a cramped bench, physical buttons for audio and climate that click with real satisfaction, crisp dual 12.3-inch displays that are easy to read without being cluttered, and materials throughout that hold up to comparison with brands charging significantly more.

PRO: Spacious

The XRT PRO is genuinely spacious in every direction, with a cavernous front row, a second row where adults actually settle in rather than just tolerate the ride, and a third row that works for kids or shorter adults, all backed by 19.1 cubic feet of cargo space with every seat in use and 46.3 cubic feet once you fold the second row.

PRO: Solid AWD System

Unlike some competitors where AWD costs extra, you get Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drive included in the base price, and it actually works well in everyday driving by running in front-wheel drive during normal cruising to save fuel and sending torque rearward when it detects slip.

CON: Soft-Roader

The XRT PRO’s 8.4 inches of ground clearance and A/T tires make it genuinely confident on loose dirt, sand, and snow, but if you’re planning anything more ambitious than a forest service road or a muddy campsite entrance, you’ll hit its limits fast since there’s no locking differential, no low-range transfer case, and no real skid plate protection underneath.

CON: Fuel Economy Punished

If fuel economy matters to you, the math is pretty straightforward: the standard Palisade V6 already isn’t winning any efficiency awards, but the XRT PRO’s off-road hardware drags the combined rating down to 19 mpg compared to the 29 mpg the Palisade Hybrid manages, meaning over 15,000 miles a year you’re burning through roughly 250 more gallons of gas annually just for the rugged looks and added traction.
