NAIAS 2017: Will Subaru Give The 2018 WRX STI A Proper Engine?

WRX STI

Well I’m sorry to let you down, but Subaru hasn’t changed the engine for the WRX STI.

But Subaru has made some significant changes for 2018, none that will get your enthusiast blood pumping.  For 2018 the Subaru WRX STI gets a new front bumper, revised suspension, 19-inch wheels, six-piston Brembo brakes, revised DCCD, and optional Recaro seats.

It’s little brother the WRX for 2018 gets a new Performance Option package, revised front and rear suspension, standard 18-inch wheels, updated front bumper, and a power steering rack that has been fine tuned.  The newest update that caught our eye was the optional Performance package, when you check that box you get eight-way power adjustable seats, red brake calipers, and upgraded brake pads.  But want to know the best part? A moonroof delete. That’s right, Subaru knows that you take your WRX to the local autocross on Saturday, and they want you to have a better experience.  I’m quite happy that Subaru is doing this, and look forward to see this option on local Subaru dealer lots.

Watch the video below for a quick overview and then an in-depth look at the Subaru WRX and WRX STI:
